Shinkansen from/to Hiroshima

Shinkansen in Japan is such a good transport to travel from City to City.
We took only 1 hour to travel from Hiroshima to Hakata. That is about the time I travel to work from Punggol to Redhill via MRT everyday.
Do check the train schedule before hopping in the train. There are express train without stop from Hiroshima to Hakata, there are also train that stop every station.

 I bought a 11000 yen Hiroshima Yamaguchi JR West Pass and enjoyed the unlimited travel for 5 days. This pass is only valid to tourist. If we book in advance outside Japan, we only pay 11000yen. We can buy it in Japan showing our passport, but it will cost 12000yen.
To get this pass, we can book it over the JR West internet. During booking, we will be asked to key in our passport details and the date range we wanted to travel. We were also asked on which station do we want to claim our pass. A hard copy printout will be required to be shown to the JR staff  at Hiroshima / Hakata JR Station.

 I guess if we did not purchase this pass, we may end up spending at least 60 000 yen for Shinkansen transport cost. 
However, if we look into the cost, we may not even travel out of Hiroshima without this JR west Pass.
No frills Shinkansen station. What we need is reliable transport system. They have it.
The trains station is plain and simple, no aircon, no marble flooring. Only cement floor. They provide good punctual train.The most important factor. Unlike our MRT train station, so pretty, but train always has signal fault. Cannot transport us efficiently. Well done, Shinkansen, Japan !!!
If you are in a rush, we can buy a meal from the push cart in Shinkansen Train itself. Such a contrast from our MRT correct? I bought drinks quite a number of time cause we always find ourselves trying to catch the train and have no time to get a drink.
By the way, we will not be able to reserve any seats using the JR West pass and trains can be pretty crowded during weekends. We ended up standing from Shin Yamaguchi to Hiroshima on a Sunday evening (8plus) after our visit from Yamaguchi.

This is the view from the plane when arriving Hiroshima. Mountainous and calm.  The airport is small, surrounded by mountains.  The first thing we landed was to activate our StarHub Happy Card Roaming service. For some reason, we failed to get it activated. It was only when we reach hotel that we realised Airport Wifi is not strong enough to activate the card. We also has issue turning on our wifi as well. As a note, the SilkAir check in counter will only opens at 8.25am for us to check in. (Departure time 10.25). So no point going early.  There is a information counter (immediately when you exit the arrival hall), where we can get transport ticket here too. For Limousine bus ticket to hiroshima, there are ticketing machines next door, behind the bus stop. We only realized it after queuing so long for our ticket and miss a bus. Local Train Yamaguchi

I love these old and reliable train. These Yamaguchi local train travel between Shin Yamaguchi station to Yamaguchi station. (They serve routes after Yamaguchi station but I did not find out as I only need to travel to Yamaguchi station LOL) No signal problem. Train operated by train captain.Do check their train hour. At certain hour, there is only 1 train per hour.  While waiting for my train, I roam around Yamaguchi station area. Above is the Yamaguchi train station. Below : a police station beside the train station. There is also a restaurant in Yamaguchi Train Station.

Hiroshima food diary - Nakau Beef Don

Nakau - Our new found Beef Don in Hiroshima. Located just few steps  away from our Hotel. A good place for late dinner as the shop close late  Our 1st try on 26 Mar 2018, Only 390yen for the beef don, and 220 for the akari and taopok udon. Similar to Matsuya Beef don, taste good at affordable rate. 27 Mar 18, not able to hold our excitement over our new find, we decided to come back again for the beef don and try out the grilled beef. Delicious. We ate these for the next day too The joint served other food like chicken cutlet and sword fish sashimi with rice. But we still feel the beef don is the best. So we have it for the next day again, and decided we should really stop and try other food instead. Yes, next time if I visit Japan, this will be another shop that I will hunt them down for a meal. In addition to Matsuya.
