Hiroden in Hiroshima

I love taking the Electric Tram in Hiroshima. My prefered transport vs bus.
During my 9 nights stay at Daiwa Roynet Hiroshima, we took the tram to and fro Hiroshima Station for 8 days.
There are short and long tram, old and new tram. Basically, 90 percent of Hiroden number 1 are new and long tram. This is the tram that transport most tourist and locals going to Hiroshima station like us.

Inside the tram, there is a coin changing machine.
You can use 1000 yen note to exchange for coins where
you use it to buy the ticket for the trip.
When boarding a Hiroden, we entre via the door at the rear. Then we alight at the front door where the driver is seated. He will make sure fares are collected and check our train pass as well.
Usually, there will be 1 tram captain. In addition to driving the tram, he needs to announce the next station name. He will also do a lot of announcement which we do not understand (all in Japanese)
Guess, if they have sore throat, they need to declare MC. LOL.
We realised most of the tram number 1 has 1 captain and 1 conductor stationed behind.(see top right picture). She will also assist to do a lot of announcement. Passengers can alight at the exit where she is stationed where she will also ensure you pay your ticket. Then she will carry a big rectangle purse, walk from behind to the front, bow to all passengers, then walk to the rear, bow to passengers. After a few days of observation, we realised she will assist passengers for notes exchange. For example, if you are left with only 10 000 yen, then you need to change the 10 000 yen to 10 pcs of 1000yen notes from her. After that, you can use the 1000yen to change to coins from the machine in the  Hiroden.Very interesting.
We purchased the 3 day pass ticket where we can have unlimited rides for 3 days at 1000 yen. That provides savings for us as well as needing to buy a ticket everytime we travel.

Why I prefer tram than bus? Well, tram travel slower. So we can track where we are going and alight at the correct station. And most of the station, they will stop. We will never lose our way. Afterall we are on holiday. Take it slow.....
