180325 Akiyoshido Cave

AKIYOSHIDO CAVE
Read from Japan-guide.com that Akiyoshido Cave (秋芳洞, Akiyoshidō), is the nation's largest and longest limestone cave. So we make it a must to visit this place even if it takes hours to reach here. We were not disappointed.

Ticketing counter before entry

Greeted with the strong water streams with a strong smell. Read from internet that limestone will have a strong smell effect on water. The view is truly wonderful
Then we were greeted with this this entrance(the Akiyoshido Entrance) which is truly amazing. On the left, water gush out from the cave like a strong current waterfall. The cave is dark upon entering. The park has installed some lights so that visitors is able to walk inside the cave.
We need to walk on the sides as there are "rivers" insde the cave. There is even a waterfall in there

The lighted area are steps that we need to walk up and down inside the cave

Reported to be 1km in length. But we felt like walking 3km ascending and descending the cave

Exit via an elevator (located in the middle of the cave) and the Kurotani Entrance. The Kurotani Exit is a steep slope where we ascend upwards to reach.
The elevator will lead you to the  Akiyoshido Plateau.

We reached here nearly 2pm, so hungry. So went for a quick lunch before we proceed
5pm, the whole place is like a ghost town. All shop closed. Lucky this owner allow us to have coffee at his cafe at 400yen. Offered me green tea free of charge though i wanted to buy from him as he do not sell hot green tea.
